The state of Alaska is promoting an online diabetes prevention program for people with prediabetes called Turnaround Health (aka Alive-PD): http://turnaroundhealth.com/. It’s an evidence-based lifestyle intervention program recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help people with prediabetes lower their risk for getting type 2 diabetes through weight loss, increased physical activity, and healthier eating.

“It is a fully automated, algorithm-driven program of 6 to 12 months of step-by-step individualized weekly guidance. Alive-PD focuses on increasing physical activity, improving eating habits, and weight loss.” [taken from their website]

The state has a limited number of free enrollment “slots” for adult Alaska residents that we would like to use by June 30, 2017. The attached flyer provides information on who is eligible to participate and how to enroll for free. As long as there are open slots and a person enrolls by June 30, s/he can take advantage of this free offer.

A free online DPP would be especially attractive to those who are at risk for prediabetes or type 2 diabetes but have access barriers such as cost, location, and time constraints for participating in an in-person diabetes prevention program.
