Alaska Health Fair (AHF) has been proudly serving Alaskans for decades with affordable health screenings and educational resources to promote community wellness. Recently, we had the honor of participating in a cancer awareness event alongside our partners at Aurora Integrated Oncology and the Men’s Run (see video).

The event proved to be a success, with AHF providing over 130 free PSA screenings, working hand-in-hand with the Men’s Run and Aurora Integrated Oncology. Our sincere gratitude goes out to our partners for their generous support.

Early detection truly saves lives, as powerfully illustrated by one attendee who shared, “Thirteen years ago I had a PSA screening. It picked up an early detection of prostate cancer. And because of that, today I’m walking around the fair.” Stories like these remind us of the critical importance of regular health screenings and why health fairs and events like this matter so much.

The event featured numerous community organizations, including the Palmer Fire and Rescue who unveiled their new cancer awareness fire truck.

None of this would have been possible without our dedicated volunteers and staff members who worked tirelessly throughout the event.

Health Fairs and Affordable Blood Tests are Happening Statewide

For those who missed the screenings at this event, AHF is hosting health fairs across the state, and a limited number of free PSA tests is available. We offer essential comprehensive and affordable blood tests from one of the largest clinical laboratories in the world (same one used by local health care providers), brought to you at nonprofit pricing. PSA screening is priced at $25, and there are many more kinds of blood tests available. We encourage you to visit www.alaskahealthfair.org and schedule an appointment online for faster service, though walk-ins are always welcome.

If you’re interested in supporting our mission of keeping Alaskans healthy, consider becoming an exhibitor or volunteer today! Local organizations get a booth at the health fairs free of charge; and, we offer a variety of medical and non-medical volunteer opportunities, at the fairs and the office. For healthcare professionals, volunteering with AHF meets continued competency requirements for professional license renewal. Please see our exhibitor and volunteer applications for details.

We hope to see you at the health fairs!

Sincerely,
AHF Team
